Sinking Feeling is a punishingly hard arcade game, that gives Flappy Bird a run for its money in terms of frustration. If you're looking for another mobile game that takes no prisoners and requires lightning fast reactions, this game is for you.

How far can you fall?

In Sinking Feeling, you control a monochrome rotating smiley face that's falling down an endless hole. The aim of the game is to move the face left to right, so it smashes through gates that rush up towards you. You score if you smash a gate, or you can avoid a gate and score nothing without punishment. If you hit the gate posts, you die, and have to start again.

A short and simple tutorial takes you through the basics, or you can jump right into 'Hard' mode. Crash through fifty gates, and you'll unlock a new mode. But, hitting fifty gates is a pretty tall order! Sinking Feeling is hard.

As you fall, the gates go from wide open and static, to narrower and moving, increasing the difficulty. Every second you have to decide whether to risk rolling out to the side to hit a gate, which might leave you too far away to hit the next, or put you in even greater danger of hitting a gate post. Sinking Feeling is, in this sense, a game of risk and reward. Do you go for a better score, or stay alive longer?

Retro graphics and retro toughness

Sinking Feeling is presented in retro 8-bit graphics, with a similarly retro chiptune soundtrack and effects. It might look basic, but this simple style of graphics is ideal for a game where you need to be able to see clearly to keep up with the frantic pace.

Just one more go...

Sinking Feeling definitely has that 'one more go' feel that propelled Flappy Bird to huge popularity, but the sheer speed of it makes it substantially harder. Despite it's two game modes, you probably won't have the patience to play Sinking Feeling for too long. Unlike Terry Cavanagh's excellent Super Hexagon, which also mixes retro graphics, a pumping retro soundtrack, and high difficulty, you can't really get 'into the zone' with this game.
