Sherlock VR is a virtual reality hidden-object mystery game in which you investigate crime scenes across Victorian London as the one and only Sherlock Holmes. In the game, you proceed through a number of cases, gathering clues from crime scenes in order to accuse one of a number of suspects.

The Game Is Afoot

If you've played other hidden-object puzzle games, the basic structure of Sherlock VR will be familiar to you: you start each crime scene with a list of objects to identify, and will have to look around until you find them. The only real difference here is the VR interface. The environments are detailed and evocative, although there are a few mistakes in the game's English. You also have to wonder where Sherlock Holmes gets colour photographs of the suspects. He also seems to have a computer in his lab, which seems out of place in Victorian England. Once you've accumulated and examined enough clues, you'll have a list of traits to match against your suspects. Find the one who fits all your criteria, and you've got your man. The game is relatively short and each case is more or less the same as the previous one.

If you like hidden-object puzzle games, Sherlock VR is a fun virtual reality implementation of the genre. It isn't terribly original, but it's well-executed.
