Shadows of Doubt is a premium adventure title coming from ColePowered Games. It's a first-person detective game with stealth elements for its gameplay and voxel graphics for presentation. In it, you take on the role of a private intelligence investigator who, to earn money, accepts cases from all types of clients who require discretion.

Similar to other detective games like Tails: The Backbone Preludes or The Flower Collectors, Shadows of Doubt provides players with plenty of intriguing stories to know about and various mysteries and puzzles to solve. The game is set in a sci-fi noir city.

Casting doubt

Shadows of Doubts is set in an alternate reality of a futuristic, hyper-industrialized 1980s backdrop. In it, you are a private investigator for hire, and you take on cases that revolve around acquiring sensitive information and evidence. The jobs will have you explore procedurally generated cities in search of intel, from back alleys to crime scenes, and everywhere else in between.

Of course, not every place in this game will be welcoming, and this is where the stealth aspect of the game comes in. Sneak into places like apartments and offices to get the info you need while avoiding getting caught, or worse, killed in the process. Study your targets and their routines and patterns of action to increase your chances of success.

To help with your escapades, employ the help of a variety of gadgets and equipment that let you gather evidence like scanning fingerprints, recording conversations, taking photos, and much more. All the while, you'll be tracking a serial killer on the loose and rampaging all over town. This is an immersive sandbox detective stealth game where you’ll meet, interact, and tail different characters. 

Snipers, expanded locations, and more

Shadows of Doubt lets you become a skilled hitman and probe expanded locations that reflect the reality of urban living. Dubbed The Sharpshooter Assassin, this latest version can get you scouring every corner of the city to find the perfect spot where you can finish off your target. It adds a fresh layer of challenges, allowing players to forge their detective styles.

Two new killer variants take center stage, based on a long-range shooter. This means you have to consider precision when targeting your enemies. Bullet trajectory is the name of the game. Plus, figuring out the most suitable vantage points across the city can go a long way. Urban sprawl gets exciting with the addition of two new building types, featuring the top and bottom of the social classes.

What’s more, you can gain social credit as you climb the social ladder. Each level unlocks various perks to keep you grinding toward gated, high-rise communities. Several quality-of-life improvements are noticeable. Reduced city generation times and trading cards are nice additions, but the much-awaited auto-travel feature steals the show. With this new and optional feature, you can navigate the city as fast as you want without resorting to teleportation.

New cities and enhanced investigative mechanics

The latest update for Shadows of Doubt introduces thrilling new features, including the cover-up mechanic, where players can be contacted by the killer to dispose of bodies in exchange for cash, adding layers of moral complexity and strategy. Additionally, kidnapping cases have been introduced, enabling players to locate the kidnapper’s den and rescue victims, providing an exciting alternative to traditional murder investigations.

Two new cities have been introduced—Casablanca Quarter and New Lilly-Crofte—expanding the world for players to explore. Moreover, citizens now investigate thrown coins and other objects in public unless they see who threw them. Despite these enhancements, the game offers a limited variety of cases. It also suffers from bugs—such as graphical glitches and jarring controls—that can hinder case-solving, but the developers are actively working on fixes.

Murder and intrigue

Shadows of Doubt is another solid title for fans of detective adventure games. It features a unique and realized world that is home to a cast of distinct characters with stories—it feels lived in and authentic. The murder narrative is also quite intriguing, slowly unraveling as you progress and collect information from all over. This is definitely worth checking out.
