A free and modern approach to Windows service management

Servy 6.0 is a free development and IT platform that manages background applications on Windows often involves workarounds, custom scripts, or rewriting software to comply with service requirements. It enables virtually any executable to operate as a native Windows service without altering the original application code.

Positioned as a comprehensive successor to utilities such as Non-Sucking Service Manager, WinSW, and FireDaemon Pro, Servy 6.0 consolidates service configuration, supervision, and automation into a unified toolkit. The result is a platform tailored for administrators, DevOps engineers, and developers who demand precision and reliability.

Comprehensive control and observability

Servy 6.0 excels in granular service configuration. Administrators can define startup modes, execution priority, working directories, environment variables, and inter-service dependencies with precision. It also supports environment variable expansion across paths and parameters, reducing configuration errors. Services may run under Local System, standard local or domain accounts, Active Directory identities, or group Managed Service Accounts, enabling compliance with enterprise security policies.

Operational resilience is another strong suit of this software. The platform continuously supervises managed processes, automatically restarting applications that crash, hang, or terminate unexpectedly. Integrated health checks and structured recovery policies enhance uptime. Controlled shutdown sequences propagate Ctrl+C signals to child processes when applicable, while fallback termination prevents resource leaks and orphaned processes—an area where many service wrappers fall short.

It provides real-time CPU and memory graphs, live previews of stdout and stderr streams, and visualized dependency trees with status indicators. Logs can be redirected with automatic rotation by size or date. Built-in search and filtering capabilities accelerate troubleshooting, while export and import options simplify configuration backups and CI/CD-driven deployments via the CLI and PowerShell module. However, its continuous monitoring, live performance graphs, and real-time stdout/stderr streaming can introduce additional CPU/memory overhead.

A reliable and secure open-source

Servy 6.0 balances operational depth with usability. Its clean desktop interface complements scripting capabilities, making it equally suitable for interactive management or automated pipelines. Digitally signed through the SignPath Foundation, it ensures executable integrity and reducing supply chain risk. Compatible across modern Windows client and server editions, it stands out as a secure, open-source, and production-ready solution for running web servers, background workers, schedulers, and runtime-based applications as dependable Windows services.
