You only have to scan the QR code using your camera. Not only that, but you can also access other COVID 19 resources through the app. You can check statistics and even use the assistance finder for benefits, rebates, and concessions.

However, do not rely on the app solely for protecting you against COVID 19. The app’s safety checker is unreliable. It doesn't work most of the time, so you cannot use it to check on every venue you go to. Sometimes, it only works for two places, and then the QR scanner will stop working. Moreover, the app sometimes fails to save the details of your previously visited place, so you need to scan it again.
