What is a browser?

A browser is a web-based application used for accessing information on the World Wide Web (WWW or the Web). A browser can link to the Internet, download web pages, and display pages. The information you see in a browser is stored in web pages that are transmitted by web servers. When you access a page, a connection is made between your computer, the server, and the web page that is displayed on your screen.
