To better understand this app, let us begin by defining terms which may confuse those who are unfamiliar with this particular spiritual path.

Sankat means 'problem'. Mochan means 'solution' or 'answer.' Bani, or Banis - is short for Gurbani; it pertains to the teachings or writings of the Gurus found in the Holy Scriptures of the Sikhs.  Similarly, Shabad literally means 'word' - and in the Sikh path, it points to selected songs, hymns, verses, mantras found in the Holy Text, dotted throughout a number of Holy Books. When put together, Sankat Mochan becomes a force - especially for devotees. To them - as well as to others who are in the midst of exploring other spiritual avenues - it is a very sacred, miraculous prayer, or mantra, which - when uttered - should help remove obstacles, pain, and suffering from one's life - and even bring in one's most cherished desires, one's deepest yearnings, to reality. Sundar Gutka is a collection of "Banis" of sacred hymns, mantras; these sacred words contain the core of the Sikh's daily prayer.

And so what does this app bring to the table?

There are 108 Sankat Mochan Shabads in this app - put the literal meanings altogether and you get 108 mantras or prayers that one may utter to help with one's very human problems; these are sacred mantras taken directly from the holy Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
