The Ministry of Handloom and Art was established to work towards creating a better and more inclusive textiles industry. The main objective of the Ministry is to establish a sustainable handloom and handicraft industry by developing the infrastructure, providing employment and income to the people, especially the marginalized groups such as women, SC/ST, differently abled persons, minorities, and the rural and remote poor. The Ministry will work towards providing a clean and safe environment for handloom and handicraft entrepreneurs.

This will be done through the development of skills in the identified job roles. The Ministry will strive to create jobs in the handloom and handicraft sectors and provide sustainable employment to the people. The Ministry will work towards promoting the handloom and handicraft industries and create employment opportunities for the marginalized groups.
