The Safer Seas & Rivers Service is a water quality service for alerting people when untreated sewage is discharged into the environment. The service also informs people when water quality is temporarily reduced at over 370 locations across the UK. The app provides the information you need to make informed decisions about when to use the sea and rivers. The app can also be used to alert Surfers Against Sewage of the issue.

It is a service of Surfers Against Sewage, a national organization working to eliminate the pollution of the UK’s seas and rivers. The app is made possible by the Government, in partnership with SEPA.

The app is free to download and provides valuable information to water users, allowing them to check water quality at their local water company. It provides all users with information on the location of the nearest water quality facility, the current water quality, and the amount of pollution that will be discharged in the river or sea on that day. It also allows users to search for rivers and beaches where they can safely swim, fishing, and canoeing.

The app includes complementary beach information such as tide times and lifeguard services. If you choose to report the issue of sewage pollution to your local water company, the app also sends a direct message to the company allowing you to report the issue.
