If you’re using the SafeNet plugin for Monster Hunter: World (MHW), you might have noticed that the P2P connections on the game servers are safe, but there is a chance that a malicious client could de-serialize the data on the network.

This could allow the malicious client to make a false impression of the contents of your wallet, make false transactions, etc. This attack is known as a Type Confusion attack, and it’s one of the most dangerous types of attacks that can happen on a P2P network. It is possible to avoid this by using SafeNet, but in order to do so, you need to have the SafeNet plugin installed on your own computer.
