Royale Noir Theme changes to Windows XP theme to one that uses dark greys and blacks to create a more sophisticated appearance. It is very similar to the black theme used in Beta 5112 for Vista without the transparency that the Vista version has. Royale Noir Theme is not complete and so is not suitable for general consumers.

- Turns the borders of all Microsoft programs black
- Lighter blacks and greys are used to distinguish one element from another
- Items in the background are given a paler black
- Lightens up inactive title bars compared to original

- Not user friendly when installing
- It not suitable for non-programmers/non-IT professionals
- The Start button’s hover and active states are unchanged
- Not suitable for people who like brighter and vivid colours
