When you first enter the dungeon, you will find yourself face to face with a monster that's about to attack you. This is when you will see the character card for this particular monster.

When your character attacks, you will see the monster card, too. You can also try to use a weapon, item or ability to defend yourself. In addition, you can also take a potion or charm to use on your next turn. If you are lucky, you can also find other items like food, health or other useful items.

You can also win a special buff from the monster.
