The story is about a prince named Nihal Mustafa, who fell in love with a beautiful girl named Shamsi. He tried to win her love, but in the end, he failed. 

Shamsi was very angry with him and she rejected him. Nihal Mustafa tried his best to win Shamsi's love, but he failed. He decided to kill Shamsi, but before he could do so, he was stopped by the sultan of a vast country. The sultan ordered him to court Shamsi as his wife. Nihal Mustafa agreed to do so. 

The novel begins with the court marriage of the prince to the beautiful Shamsi. The story then goes on to tell the tale of their love and their life in the court.
