Realistic Battle Mod is a useful mod which makes combat more realistic in two ways. First, the armor of the different units is based on real-life evidence, and second, the amount of damage is calculated based on the type of weapon used and the amount of armor that the unit has. Projectile damage is based on kinetic energy, ranged weapons use draw and projectile weight based simulation

The combat is also more realistic because the game is longer than in the vanilla version, and the AI has more strategy and tactics to use.
