If you want to take a break from playing intense car race games, you should try Ray City. It is an open-world driving game developed by Electronic Arts where you are free to explore the city and engage in other activities aside from racing.

Questing and racing

The game has a questing mode where you will be tasked to pick up and drop off passengers to their destinations. It will remind you of taxi missions in the Grand Theft Auto games but with less pressure to reach them. There will also be no grave consequences when you happen to crash your car against another vehicle or building. You can freely navigate the city and complete your missions with no worries at all. I must say that these simple tasks are rewarding and relaxing in its own way. At times, I even find it amusing. The passengers that you will have to pick up express different levels of urgency. For example,  a woman was asking for an immediate ride because she is being cornered by bad men. Another encounter I had was a man requesting a ride because his clothes were stolen during his sleep! 

Questing is also the best way to familiarize yourself with the city and the game’s controls. You will also earn lots of in-game currency, called “Rain,” from taking passengers around. It can be used for buying new cars and having them upgraded. 

After taking your time in strolling past the city, you might eventually miss racing. It is good that Ray City has a racing mode at the ready. You can play in multiplayer mode and race against other real people. If you want you can even form race groups and compete with other teams. Race cars that have received lots of upgrades are more likely to win races so be sure to earn enough Rain to upgrade your own cars. You will also gain faster race cars as your level gets higher. This level breakdown makes Ray City friendly for amateurs and newbies. Players are not allowed to play with others that are highly inferior or superior to their level. It gives everyone a fair chance at winning.

Explore Seoul

This is now your chance to go sightseeing in Seoul, South Korea. It may not resemble the place exactly but Ray City is able to deliver really good graphics and design that will not leave you unsatisfied. You will find yourself having fun driving around because the roads are wide and the chances of colliding with other vehicles are really slim. When you are not in the racing mode, you can go from one side of the city to another using the map at the corner of the screen. This is made possible by the game’s auto-navigation. It gives you some kind of teleportation powers! If you are feeling lazy to drive around do not hesitate to tap on the map.

A good pastime 

Ray City is a game that is both relaxing and exciting. The gameplay is simple and not complicated. It also has good graphics, a pleasing concept design, and funky background music that creates a very fun and inviting atmosphere.
