Radio Maria Tanzania, established on April 26, 1996, in Songea, Southern Tanzania, started as a small radio station. With the support of listeners and donors, it has grown to reach a significant portion of the United Republic of Tanzania. Broadcasting on 12 frequencies, encompassing 10 for mainland Tanzania and 2 for the islands, Radio Maria stands out as a leading church radio station in the country.

The station's content is structured around four main areas: Liturgy covering prayers, Mass celebrations, the Holy Rosary, etc.; Church/Religious teachings; Social teachings/World Education; and lastly, entertainment and news segments. Radio Maria holds the top spot among church radios in Tanzania, reaching a vast audience nationwide.
