A Police Academy is a four-year institution that provides high-quality education and training to aspiring police officers. The school is located in Ankara, Turkey and was founded by the Ministry of Police and the Police Academy Foundation. The first class of the academy was held in November of the same year. The school's first location was a rented room in the Ankara Police District headquarters. In the following year, the school moved to its own building in the Kuyucak district. In the same year, the school became a private university with a four-year degree program.

In the same year, the university started offering a two-year degree program for those interested in police careers. The program was also expanded to include a three-year degree in the following year. In addition to the university's four-year degree program, the university also offers two-year and three-year certificate programs, as well as a one-year diploma program. All the courses and the four-year degree program are offered in Turkish and English.

The university's academic research center was founded in 1994. In the same year, the first scientific research paper was published by the university. The paper was written by Bozok T. Akgül and İrfan Özenç, and was entitled "The p-nitrobenzol adenine dinucleotide as an accelerator of AMV and AV2Mn+ at levels of 30-100 times of basal rates in the rabbit QT-interval.
