Pokémon Infinite Fusion is a free adventure title for PC from an indie developer who goes by the name Schrroms. This fan-made Pokémon game is developed using the popular RPG Maker XP that has been heavily modified with the Pokémon Essentials kit. It helps make the game systems, interface, and overall experience more familiar to fans of the series.

Similar to Pokémon: Revolution, Pokémon Infinite Fusion takes inspiration from the classic Pokémon series to create its game world and its roster of various Pokémon creatures. It also introduces a unique twist to the gameplay in a fusion system.

The elusive exclusive

The Pokémon franchise has retained its immense popularity even after nearly three decades. From its video games to its cartoon adaptations, it has garnered millions of fans globally. The former has also been a successful series of adventure RPGs, but has always been exclusive to specific platforms, leaving PC fans, in particular, hanging.

That has brought about the emergence of so-called fan-made Pokémon games that aim to replicate the experience for PC gamers. Pokémon Infinite Fusion is one such example, and it has a trick up its sleeve that helps it stand out more from its contemporaries, with its Fusion System that lets players combine two Pokémon creatures to create a Hybrid Pokémon, allowing all kinds of interesting results.

However, it suffers from a few drawbacks that can affect the overall experience. Some players may notice long loading times, especially when starting the game or moving between areas. There are also occasional black screen issues that interrupt gameplay. On top of that, a random bug can sometimes cause the player character to stop moving, which may require restarting the game to continue playing normally.

Thousands of different fusions

In Pokémon Infinite Fusion, you can fuse any Pokémon with another. Yes, you heard it right. You can combine your two favorite Pokémon and create a version that mixes the characteristics of both, including their sprites, stats, move sets, and more. Each fused Pokémon will even have its own entry in the Pokédex.

How many possibilities? So many! When playing the game, you will have the possibility to make up to 176,400 different combinations among all the existing Pokémon. You can unleash your imagination and explore your creativity like never before, creating your dream Pokémon.

The game will allow you to explore a world where you will face trainers and gym leaders from the Kanto and Johto regions. Create and combine your Pokémon to form the perfect team and obtain the 16 gym badges. You can give a nickname to your Pokémon directly from the game menu and even speed up the game if you want more dynamism.

Like the original games, but much better

Pokémon Infinite Fusion adopts the graphics from the Pokémon games of the 5th Generation but brings its own style to the outside world. In addition to the graphics, the game controls are practically the same as those used in Pokémon Black and Pokémon White, so you can play without any problem.

When you fuse your creatures, not only will you get Pokémon with automatically created sprites (with quite striking results), but you can also choose from over 20,000 sprites created by artists from The PokéCommunity. Fuse and fuse until you create a Pokémon that is much more spectacular than its original versions.

And if that wasn't enough, you will have access to the Randomizer mode, where you can replace a Pokémon with another one that falls within a specified stat range of the replaced Pokémon, and the Wonder Trade mode, thanks to which you can anonymously trade your fused Pokémon with other players.

Gameplay expansion and polishing updates 

Pokémon Infinite Fusion has received several major updates that add more replay value, customization, and overall polish to the game. One of the biggest changes is the revamped Elite Four system. Players in Classic Mode can now enjoy a new Pokémon League rematch feature, where the Elite Four no longer use fixed teams. Instead, they pull from a wider pool of Pokémon. There are also five unlockable difficulty tiers, giving players more challenge options as they progress. 

Character customization has also expanded. New cosmetic options have been added, including outfits like the Dark Outfit, Flying Outfit, and Toxic Idol Coat, along with plenty of new hats and hairstyles to mix and match your look. On top of that, more than 30 new Pokémon have been added to the game. A new “Legendary Mode” has also been introduced, unlocked through New Game+.  

Furthermore, plenty of new events and quests have been added, including the option to join Team Rocket and take part in their side missions throughout the game. Many improvements have also been introduced across multiple updates. The user interface has been refined to feel simpler and easier to navigate. Alongside this, several bug fixes and quality-of-life updates help the game run more smoothly and give it a more polished feel overall. 

Faithful but also innovative

All in all, Pokémon Infinite Fusion is a solid alternative that not only lets you have the elusive Pokémon experience but also introduces some unique systems and mechanics that enhance the gameplay even further.
