As the world’s largest farmer-led agricultural research organization, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation supports a diverse suite of programs to help farmers around the world to make their agricultural systems more resilient to the impacts of climate change. One such program is the participatory crop-protection research and education (PoCRA) project, which is taking an experimental approach to help farmers overcome the challenges they face.

As part of this project, the development of a smartphone app for facilitating Field Field School has been carried out, where a facilitator, a host farmer, and other farmers will go to a field to visit and discuss the issues related to the crop, as well as to plan and implement a strategy to overcome the problems. The discussions will take place in the fields and will include a day-long visit to the laboratory, where experiments are being carried out.
