Pittsburgh Penguins is an American professional ice hockey team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The team was founded in 1967 as the result of an agreement between the city of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL) that allowed the NHL team to be based in the city. The team has been a member of the NHL since its inception.
