Photosonic is a subscription-based AI art tool. It is designed to help users with no artistic ability to create custom images in a variety of different styles and is suited to various purposes. Photosonic is available as a free trial, although this has limited features.

This tool is yet another competitor to the likes of DALL·E and DALL·E Mini. As with these programs, it is able to generate images automatically. All the user needs to do is type in a description and choose some format options.

Type in your prompt

The homepage of Photosonic includes a box to type text into. Enter a description of the image that you want to generate, use the drop-down menus to select a style (painting, cartoon, etc.), format it (your options are landscape, portrait, and square), and then hit generate. The AI will then create your picture.

Ten styles to choose from

Photosonic's style menu contains a total of 10 different aesthetics to choose from. These are painting, fantasy, anime, 3D, cartoon, sci-fi, photo, illustration, character, and cute. There's also an "anything" option, which allows greater flexibility but is billed as being for experts only.

A gallery of similar images

A nice touch to Photosonic that helps distinguish it from its many competitors is that the site will show a gallery of similar pictures that it has already generated after you've typed in a prompt. You can see if the image you want already exists this way and perhaps refine your prompt for more specific results.

Background removal and more

Photosonic has the inevitable shortcomings of AI art tools. For example, it may misinterpret your prompt. It isn't a viable substitute for hiring a competent artist. Still, the presence of features like background removal and face restoration will make it a good addition to a digital art toolbox.
