PES 2014
A step toward realistic football
A step forward for PES
Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 is a free sports game developed and published by Konami for PC. It improves its predecessor with more manual control, making it feel more like a true soccer simulation that everyone can enjoy, whether you are an avid fan of the title or the sport or a casual player.
This updated version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 from the popular Pro Evolution Soccer series introduces new features, such as manual passing and shooting, providing an enhanced, tactical experience. While similar to PES 2012, it refines gameplay and graphics for a better experience.
The new ‘PES FullControl’ system in Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 improves player control, including manual passing and shooting to deliver greater precision and freedom on the pitch. A dynamic first-touch system adds depth, allowing better ball control. Dribbling is also improved, offering a more realistic feel. However, some find it challenging to master, especially newcomers, as the manual features require more precision than before.
On a different note, as with the other iterations of the title, players can choose their favorite club or national team and compete in a variety of licensed tournaments, including the UEFA Champions League and the Copa Libertadores. Multiple game modes, along with online and local multiplayer, provide plenty of ways to enjoy the action. Every match encourages skillful play and teamwork, allowing players to showcase their abilities.
The game also excels in player likenesses, with athletes mimicking their real-life counterparts’ movements and celebrations. The graphics are stunning, from team entrances to player details, creating a visually immersive experience that captures the excitement of professional football. However, the animation is still somewhat clunky, especially with player turns and goalkeeper throws, which can break immersion. Despite these flaws, the game offers solid realism.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 successfully builds on its predecessor by delivering improved controls, realistic visuals, and engaging gameplay. The manual mechanics reward skill and precision, making every match feel more authentic and satisfying. The variety of licensed tournaments and game modes also adds lasting replay value. Although some animations are outdated and the learning curve can be steep, it is still a highly enjoyable football simulation.
