Perforator, developed by Bram Bos, is a powerful AUv3 Audio Unit plugin for iPhone. As a rhythmic gating audio effect, Perforator allows you to creatively snip, cut, gap, and filter incoming audio to create rhythmic patterns out of sustained sounds.

With Perforator, you can fine-tune the slice envelopes to create a wide range of effects, from classic staccato "trance gate" sounds to emulations of sloppy pumping sidechain compression. The plugin offers two gating mechanisms: an AMP EG gate, which is the traditional way of gating, and a 12dB/Oct lowpass filter that rapidly carves away high frequencies to effectively silence them.

One of the standout features of Perforator is its automatic synchronization with your project's tempo, ensuring that your rhythmic patterns are always in sync. Additionally, you can edit the left and right channels independently, allowing for greater control over your audio.

The plugin also includes a built-in preset manager with a wide variety of factory presets to get you started. All AU Parameters are exposed for host automation, giving you the ability to automate and control Perforator within your host app.

Please note that the bonus feature of AU MIDI output allows both envelopes (L+R) to send their values out as MIDI CC messages, mimicking "parameter lock" messages in other plugins/apps. This feature requires iOS11+ and a host compatible with AU MIDI from effects.
