Penumbra: Overture is a survival horror game with adventure-game elements. In it, you take on the role of Philip, a scientist led by a mysterious letter to an abandoned mine in remote Greenland. As you explore the dark caverns, you'll encounter monsters, more clues and horrifically mutated animals. The game combines physics-based puzzle solving and some basic combat with the kind of eerie, post-industrial imagery you might find in a Silent Hill game. If you like offbeat horror games, you'll find it effectively atmospheric, although the combat system lacks sophistication and the plot is sometimes a little unclear.
