PaymoneyWubby: The Game is a free adventure video game wherein you must journey to reclaim your lost fortune. Developed by xPeas, this wacky-looking indie game is a parody of classic platformer games but employs a psychedelic-like 3D graphic style that’s unique. This game is still in development and doesn’t have a lot of content available, but the levels are sizeable enough to warrant several minutes of trying to complete them.

PaymoneyWubby: The Game puts you in the shoes of PaymoneyWubby—affectionately known as “Wubby” to his loyal fans—a popular streamer dressed similarly to Link from The Legend of Zelda series, which depends upon his live-streamed adventures to earn him a steady income. The plot centers around a conspiracy to steal Wubby’s fame and glory, so he must now travel to various parts of the world in order to stop the villains responsible for this.

At the main menu is the controls. The WASD keys are for movement while the Spacebar is to either jump or drop. The left mouse button is for attacking while the middle mouse button is to switch your camera views. On the other hand, the Shift key is to go into the first-person mode while you’re in the WubHub, the E key is for interacting with NPCs, and the W key is to climb ledges when you’re hanging onto them. 

The gameplay is straightforward. You only have to do some platforming to get around the map and reach your destination. However, the controls can be tricky to master as you don’t automatically climb up ledges. More, some platforms require you to double-jump late into your first jump. The funky environment design can also take some getting used to, especially camera cutscene panning, which happens when an objective is shown.

All in all, PaymoneyWubby: The Game is a quirky little platformer for any fans of the genre. The controls and camera views can take some getting used to, and unlocking more levels will take a while. However, it has great potential to be a nice parody game. If you’re interested in such indie games that show lots of references and pop culture-centric writing in dialogue, this is a recommendation to try out.
