Path of the Mage is a role playing game mod created by Drazhar753, which uses the popular style of mage as an element to gameplay. The game's plot revolves around the destruction of the magical barrier surrounding Hyboria and the return of Lordaeron to magic. The player takes control of both armies of the elves and humans and must work together to win the war and prevent Hyboria from suffering the evil destruction of the elves and humans.

This mod also features several new spells created by Drazhar753, namely: Frost Breath, Flames of the Fire, and Dragonrend. These three spells can be combined with several other spells created by the player, or the player can choose to only rely on these powerful spells. Each one of them has a powerful effect upon the entire game experience, and while these are not the most exciting aspects of the mod, they are certainly the most used. The player can find several new races to play as, including the Drathian, High Elf, Night Elf, and Nord that all have their own unique attributes, abilities, and strengths.

Some of the most exciting parts of this mod are the side quests, which are quite interesting in their own right. The quests themselves introduce several new weapons, armor, and spells that the player can use during their journey, and help to make the game more interesting and engaging. One of these side quests involves the return of High King Aiden Pelliot to Lordaeron after being away for several years, where he learns that the elves are once again awakening and that there is a threat looming over Hyboria known as the Lich King. Adding to the intrigue of the story is the fact that the player is forced to choose between accepting his defeat and helping the elves defeat the Lich King, which results in several exciting and intense cut scenes.
