A hidden object horror game

Paragnosia is a premium adventure game for PC from developer Sine Coda. It is a first-person psychological horror experience featuring hidden object gameplay mechanics. In it, players will use rail cameras to spot anomalies that have been terrorizing them in their homes and survive before the countdown finishes.

Comparable to games like Hellmart or Granny: Escape Together, there is a sense of dread and urgency in Paragnosia that raises the stakes and forces players to be careful yet smart as they fight against the clock to survive until morning, or risk falling victim to the very horrors they are trying to vanquish.

Terrors at home

In Paragnosia, you've been haunted by terrifying phantoms in your home for a long time, but you have had enough and are looking to banish them once and for all. To do so, you need to use your rail cameras to take photos to exorcise them, and you must last through the night for eight hours while successfully identifying each anomaly.

The core gameplay loop revolves around moving your camera along a rail track, which you can rotate in any way in 360 degrees. From there, it’s a nerve-wracking task of spotting anomalies and taking pictures to exorcise them. Aside from the pressure of correctly identifying anomalies, you also have to be wary of your battery and avoid it running out before you finish.

The anomalies scattered throughout your home will try to obstruct your view or trap you. To make matters worse, each time you miss identifying an anomaly, one of the six locks on the seal that protects you will break. Lose all of them, and it's game over. Depending on how you play, you can expect to finish the game in under three hours, which is a bit short.

Make it through the night

Overall, Paragnosia's combination of spooky horror and cam rail gameplay makes for an atmospheric and eerie experience full of tension and dread that fans of the genre will like. The gameplay is on the short side with regard to runtime, but that's par for the course for these types of games. Nevertheless, this one is worth checking out for yourself.
