One of the standout features of ParaCom Spirit Box is the ability to manually select scanning speed, ranging from 25 ms to 1000 ms. Alternatively, users can simply press the Auto button to allow the engine to choose a random speed for each clock cycle. Additionally, the app offers a real-time echo feature, which can be activated through the Echo button. It is recommended to use a Bluetooth speaker and adjust the microphone gain to avoid feedback noise.

The scanning process involves 11 banks of reversed speech fragments and radio noise, creating a mix of nonsensical sounds. The belief is that spirits can manipulate this noise to communicate with us. Users can also quit scanning white noise by pressing the NR button.
