OpenDota is a volunteer-developed, open source platform dedicated to providing Dota 2 data. It offers a user-friendly web interface for casual users to explore the amassed data effortlessly. Additionally, OpenDota equips developers with an API, enabling them to craft their own applications utilizing the extensive data available.

The platform gathers data using the Steam WebAPI and conducts replay parsing of .dem files to enhance the data collection process. While the WebAPI provides basic data for all public matches, replay parsing offers a more detailed dataset at the expense of increased CPU processing time, limiting its application to a subset of matches.
