When clicking links on your browser, they always open in the background by default. And when you press the Ctrl key while clicking a link, it will open the link on a new tab, so you still need to click on it to go there. Same as having to click the middle mouse button when opening a link.

So, if you want to open links in the program using your Chrome browser, install this extension called Open Tabs In Foreground. It is a simple, lightweight extension that allows you to open Tabs in the foreground when clicking a link, meaning it forces the newly-opened tab to open immediately.

If you're using a Firefox browser, you won't need it because it has a similar feature in its settings called "When you open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately."
