The mantra of the Goddess of Compassion is the core of Buddhist practice. The phrase is usually written in a sacred book, or recited by a monk or a practitioner. When you recite this mantra, you are saying the same thing as the Buddha, who said, “Thus, through compassion, I attain the highest happiness, and peace.”

You are using your mind to develop compassion, and this is the most important thing you can do to help others. Compassion is the greatest antidote to the suffering of others.

In the same way, you are using your mind to help others, you are also suffering. You are not separate from the world. You are not an observer. You are not a separate entity. You are part of the world.
