The NRS (National Relay Service) app, developed by the Department of Communications, is a government initiative aimed at providing a means for people who are deaf, hard of hearing, and/or have a speech impairment to make and receive phone calls. This utility and tools app is available for iPhone users and is free to download.

The NRS app offers various call options to cater to different communication needs. Users can choose to make calls using NRS Chat, which allows for typing and reading conversations. Voice Relay is available for individuals who are difficult to understand on the phone, while NRS Captions is designed for those who can speak but have difficulty hearing clearly. Additionally, the app offers Video Relay for users who utilize Auslan (Australian Sign Language).
