No Longer Human: A Novel is a post-war novel by Japanese author Osamu Dazai.

The story is set in the northern part of Japan, in the late 1940s.

The main character, Ken, is a young man who is forced to live in the rural town of Iwotomi, where he is the only son of the former lord of the village. His father has been ill for some time, and he is now taking care of the house and trying to get the family back together.

In the meantime, he feels that he has lost his human qualities and is becoming less and less of a person.

This is partly because of the influence of his friend and companion, Tetsuro, who is from a different aristocratic family and is much older than Ken. Tetsuro wants to show him the way to the modern world and make him part of it.
