Organizing your email (and your life) has never been so easy
Nine is a fantastic way to organize multiple email accounts within the same app, with its strength being its layout and useful features.
Setting up Nine is simple for most email accounts. All you do is enter the email address and password and Nine does the rest automatically. It’s also easy to chose which content to sync (email, calendar, contacts, and tasks), as well as different folders and sync schedules. Just a note, Gmail accounts will not work in this app, as Google no longer supports ActiveSync.
In the side menu you can chose favorite folders for quick access, as well as add more accounts, and select which emails to display (all mail from all accounts, unread, flagged emails, etc). There is also the option to sort by date, sender, subject, priority, and flag, which can be changed for each individual folder, you can also add categories to better organize your mail.
But it's not just about email, as Nine can also sync your calendar and tasks, allowing you to set due dates, priorities and reminders. Having this all in one place instead of needing separate apps is a real highlight.
Other neat features include the ability to group emails into conversations and swipe to delete, as well as chose which folder to start the app in. I particularly liked the conversation view, as it displayed the messages in the same way as chat apps (such as WhatsApp) to make them easier to read.
Nine is hot on security too, with its remote wipe feature (erasing all data in the app after ten failed password attempts) and passwords that can be applied either just to the application, or to the device as well.
A feature I'd like to see is the option to open emails in different tabs (like with a browser) so you can easily switch between them without having to go back to the relevant folder.
With Nine, you can easily manage different email accounts and keep all your emails separate, while not worrying that you’ll reply with the wrong account or mix up business and personal mails.
But because there are quite a lot of options, it can take a while to find the one you need. I wanted to turn off notifications and I had to dig around within the settings to find the right menu. Then I couldn't find the setting to turn them back on again. If you're looking for absolute simplicity, then there are better options out there.
Nine is an app that is perfect for power users, who have a lot of emails and tasks to manage and who are looking for a way to effortlessly organize their personal and work lives. It's packed with loads of features while being pretty easy to use and lovely to look at.
