Night Room is a free-to-play arcade game. Despite its suggestive themes and design choices, it’s actually a simple platformer game where you control a rocket. This small spaceship moves up and down as you tap. Essentially, your mission is to collect hearts that appear along your way while avoiding different obstacles such as the different types of alien spaceships.

Aside from the misleading title card and app icon, Night Room is actually a fun and simple game. Its control only requires you to tap to change the direction in which the rocket travels, making it easier than Doodle Jump.

Guide your small rocket

One confusing part of Night Room is its app icon, which features two ladies. Similarly, its homepage prominently features a stylized bedroom. While it looks like a dating sim or a romance-type game, it’s not. Once you start playing, however, you are treated to an entirely wholesome gameplay experience. Its minimalist approach extends to the homepage, which only includes Play and Audio On/Off buttons.

As mentioned, the premise is simply to guide your rocket to the heart gems while avoiding spikes at the edge of the screen, as well as other obstacles. The top and the bottom of the stage are filled with spikes while spaceships travel from left to right on the screen. Once you get hit, the game ends instantly. Of course, the more you progress, the more difficult the game gets. 

Aside from the misleading design choices, the game ultimately becomes flat and tiring. The gameplay has no horizontal movement. You only move up and down over the same line at the center of a fixed stage. There are limited opponents and characters available, and the background doesn’t change. Without any incentive for any progress, aside from a high score record, it gets boring really fast.

Overall, Night Room feels like a mini game that is included in some other game instead of being a standalone game. It starts as soon as you install the app, giving a wrong impression that it is some adult game based on the colors and design choices. However, it’s as wholesome as it gets, although the game it offers really gets repetitive and tiring really fast.
