New Paint X is a painting application meant for drawing and colouring pictures. It can also be used to edit, and it offers a huge variety of different brushes as well as a unique interface and set of tools to work with.

A long, strange brush

New Paint X's premier feature is its built-in brushes, which provide a great springboard for learning the app itself: trying out the different brushes and mastering them is an easy, intuitive way to make yourself better at using the app. On the other hand, some basic functionality requires learning of its own: there is no line tool, for example, and lines must instead be made by holding Shift and clicking with the pencil tool. It's not unworkable, but it can take some getting used to.

Painting in broad strokes

Overall, New Paint X is a great choice if you're used to the previous software, Paint X, or if you don't have a significant digital painting background already. Its quirks can make it difficult to learn coming from some other art software, but if you keep an open mind and use the brushes to their fullest effect, you can do some pretty impressive stuff with New Paint X, right out of the box.
