New Metal Detector is a free app for Android devices that can detect the presence of any metal object nearby by measuring the magnetic field value. The app uses the built-in magnetic sensor of your smartphone and displays magnetic field level in μT (microtesla). It is essential to note that the magnetic field level naturally (EMF) is about 59μT (microtesla) or 590 mG (milli gauss), and 1μT = 10mG.

The app is simple to use; open it and move it around metal. If the magnetic field values change or rise, there is a possibility of metal in the area. The accuracy of the app depends entirely on the magnetic sensor of your device and is affected by electrical equipment like TVs and PCs due to electromagnetic waves. The app has several features, including live graph reading, an alarm that rings when the magnetic field crosses a limit, and a beep sound immediately on detection of any metal object or electromagnetic signal. It can also detect hidden electrical wires and metal objects in walls and work as a key finder tool.
