Never Apart is a free adventure game heavily inspired by the PT Demo. In this game, you play as the sole survivor of the serial killer Darren Bar—and you get stuck in a strangely-looping apartment floor. To make it worse, Darren’s spirit haunts the dimension you are in, and he is out to get you and complete his ceremony. Never Apart is a horror game filled with lots of jumpscares that will have you tense the entire time.

Escape the room

Never Apart comes from the first-person point of view. What you will do is move around the building and try to avoid the spirit of Darren Bar or escape the room. Doing so will be no easy feat, however, as the entire place is haunted. As noted, there are lots of jumpscares and other paranormal activities that will send chills down your spine. More than that, they are also accompanied by the great ambiance and the build-up, making it even more terrifying. 

The story is also quite intriguing, with plot twists to make it more interesting. Even though it had PT elements in with the looping, the game is very different from its inspiration. More than playing and getting spooked, you will also need to listen to the radio and gather clues to figure out what happened.

However, aside from the spirit of Darren Bar who is out to kill you, there is no actual threat. There is no time limit in escaping the room or running away from your killer. Moreover, the game has little replay value since there aren’t many options once you reach the ending. Speaking of endings, the game is also hard to complete. Most of the time, you will end up being one of Darren Bar’s victims.

A visually-horrifying game

If you love playing survival horror games, then Never Apart will be a great experience. The game has enough jumpscares and scary ambiance to make you scared witless. Moreover, the story is so interesting that it will make you want to see through the entire game despite being scared. It could use a bit more work and polish, but all in all, it is an excellent game.
