Dive into the dystopian NYC in 2055
Neon Inferno is a retro-based action title set in New York City in 2055. Developed by Zenovia Interactive for PC gaming, this cyberpunk game indulges players in an intense run-and-gun and gallery-shooter playthrough in an expanse beyond salvation to help the Family reign over the streets.
Visualized in iconic retro-inspired 2D-pixel graphics, Neon Inferno perfectly captures the essence of the great classic games while introducing futuristic elements. It features a precision platformer and shoot-'em-up mechanics, offering a challenging and fast-paced experience that keeps players on the edge of their seats.
Play as an assassin for the Family
Step into the shoes of an assassin for the Family, an infamous crime group, in Neon Inferno and fight against enemy factions in the streets of dystopian New York City. Here, you play as Angelo Morano or Mariana Vitti, whose task is to dispose of all the potential threats to the Family’s dominance over the streets and the metropolitan battlefield.
Blast the enemies, deflect the attacks, and slice through the expanse's foreground and background with a selection of upgradable weapons to loot along the adventure in this city-wide conflict. Alongside the iconic retro-inspired visuals, this action-filled journey is accompanied by an evocative soundtrack that enhances the storytelling and sets the mood, immersing players in a pulse-pounding experience that blends nostalgia with intensity.
Players can select their preferred difficulty level, making it accessible for both newcomers and long-time fans of similar genres. In addition, players can challenge themselves in the 1-credit-clear Arcade Mode or team up with friends in the local co-op mode. However, due to the game's blinking and flashing lights, this might not be suitable for individuals with severe ocular conditions.
Patch 1
Since the release of Neon Inferno, the creators have demonstrated a commitment to keeping the game enjoyable by actively acknowledging player feedback. With this patch, they have begun to take concrete steps toward that goal, addressing balance through the ranking and shop systems and introducing long-requested quality-of-life features. Among these most important changes are performance improvements, fixing prices for its gunslingers, and rebalancing the difficulties for novice and medium difficulties.
Additionally, there is now an in-stage HUD timer option available. However, the mash-fire exploit has been patched out, but there has been a 15% increase in players’ auto-fire to compensate for it. Most importantly, the experience-breaking bug where equipped weapons get lost upon restarting and game overs has also been fixed, making the playthrough seamless. Further fixes and improvements are scheduled for Patch 2.
Retro-inspired, action-packed experience
To sum it all up, Neon Inferno delivers a thrilling, action-packed experience that combines the best of retro-inspired visuals with modern gameplay mechanics. Its fast-paced, run-and-gun style keeps players engaged as they navigate the dangerous streets of a cyberpunk New York City. With its accessible difficulty options, diverse modes, and gripping soundtrack, Neon Inferno offers both nostalgia and fresh challenges.
