Neo Cab is a narrative-driven indie adventure video game that lets you cruise through the neon city lights of the cyberpunk future. You play as Lina, the last human cab driver in this world of automated cabs. In this game, Lina has come to the glittering city of Los Ojos to see her old friend Savy. However, Savy mysteriously goes missing, and Lina is at a loss on what to do. With no money and no place to come home to, all you can do in this automated city is to keep on driving to get to where you need to be.

Let’s Take a Drive

Neo Cab lets you connect with your all-too-human passengers to find clues about where your friend could be. However, socializing isn’t easy in this game as personalities clash and tempers rise, every time. And as a cab driver, dependant on the earnings of your five-star rating, you’ll need to balance out both your sanity and your reputation in this city riddled with mystery. 

The game lets you interact with your passengers and even gives you the chance to reply in various ways. However,  your current emotional state will affect what you can and cannot say to them. You will have to tread lightly, because talking to your passengers will not only influence the star rating they’ll give you and the amount of money you’ll earn, but this is also the only way you’ll find out about what has happened to Savy. They each have stories and secrets to tell, after all. 

Neo Cab plays out almost like a taxi driving simulator. You will choose the passengers who want your services using the Neo Cab app and plot out your route. You need to be careful with your star rating as a cab driver, though,  as you can be booted off the job and the streets if you become disliked. Being booted off the job will essentially lose your chance to get answers, and, of course,  you will lose your livelihood as well. But, while it’s tempting to answer neutrally or pander to the characters in this game, holding on to your humanity is still the key to surviving this world full of robots. Neo Cab is a game for introspection underneath the jazzy neon lights.
