NCERT is an Indian educational institution, which is the pioneer in teaching the CBSE system of education in India. The system is now known as the NCERT system, and it has been adopted by the State Board of Education, SC & ST (State Secondary Education) and HS (High School) in India.

It was founded by Pandit Rao Gaekar, in 1937, and it is now headed by the Chief Governor of Maharashtra, BS Eden, IV, and VI. The first principal was Saroj Shwetambar.

In 1942, the first edition of NCERT was published, and it has since then been published annually. The NCERT books have been translated into English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali, Urdu, and Punjabi.
