MythTV is an open-source software package intended to be used as an alternative to other popular options such as Windows Media Player. Some of its primary features include the ability to record both analog and digital television formats, to skip and pause programs, to listen to stored digital music and to archive a DVD collection. As this is an open-source system, users will not be required to pay for a download. The latest update took place in February 2017.
