Multiband is a free iPhone application developed by Mani Consulting Limited Company. It falls under the category of Multimedia, specifically Music & Radio. This powerful tool allows users to split an audio signal into separate channels, with each channel corresponding to a different frequency band.

With Multiband, users can easily perform multiband processing using effects plugins that were not specifically designed for such tasks. For example, it enables users to apply multiband compression using different compressor plugins for bass and treble frequencies. Additionally, users can process specific frequency ranges with chorus or flanger effects while leaving the rest of the audio clean.

The app offers two modes of operation: Multi-output and Link Group. In Multi-output mode, a single input channel is split into multiple output channels. On the other hand, the Link Group mode is designed as a fallback support for DAW apps that do not support multi-output audio units. In this mode, users can duplicate the input track for each frequency band and apply the necessary filtering to isolate each band. The instances of the plugin can be linked together across tracks for synchronized control of the transition frequencies between bands.

Unlike using highpass and lowpass filters in an ordinary EQ to separate the bands, Multiband ensures phase alignment and avoids phase cancellation issues. The app utilizes second-order Linkwitz-Riley IIR crossover filters, which preserve the phase relationships between the bands. These filters, along with additional phase compensation filters, eliminate unwanted phase interaction.

It is worth noting that Multiband was developed in collaboration with Mr. Ali Ahmet, the manager of the Beat Community group on Facebook. The Beat Community is a curated forum for mobile music production discussions, promotions, and app giveaways.
