Multi-PC Input Control

Mouse without Borders is a utility tool for PC created by indie developer Truong Do, and is part of the Microsoft Garage Project, which develops new programs. It allows users to control multiple computers using a single set of keyboard and mouse peripherals.

Mouse without Borders comes from the same Garage Project hub as Seeing AI and the Microsoft Launcher. It is to complement the core functionalities and capabilities that Windows already offers. In its case, it was to make controlling multiple machines from a single input source possible and easy.

Seamless desktop transition

Mouse without Borders relies on a local network pairing system that connects computers using a generated security code and device name. Once paired, each system maintains an active communication channel that listens for changes in cursor position and keyboard focus. Cursor movement past a defined screen edge transfers control to the adjacent machine. However, it's limited to four connected computers, without requiring manual switching.

A built-in shared clipboard service synchronizes copied text and files across all linked PCs. Clipboard data is transmitted automatically when a copy action is detected, allowing paste operations on any connected system. File transfer through the clipboard supports drag-style movement without invoking external file-sharing tools. However, it lacks built-in screen viewing or mirroring. Clipboard rules can be adjusted to limit data types or temporarily disable synchronization.

The software includes keyboard shortcut mapping and input behavior controls that define how commands operate across machines. Hotkeys can lock the cursor to a single PC, jump directly to a specific system, or disable cross-screen movement. Additional controls regulate screen wrapping, cursor barriers, and system order. These settings govern how input transitions occur and how strictly boundaries between machines are enforced.

Network KVM

Mouse without Borders provides centralized keyboard and mouse control across multiple Windows PCs using network-based input sharing. It includes cursor handoff between systems, clipboard synchronization, file transfer through copy actions, and configurable shortcut commands. The software limits connections to four computers and operates within a closed, trusted device group. It does not include display mirroring, remote desktop visualization, or cloud-based synchronization features.
