Monopoly at Macca's is a prize redemption mobile app that lets you win various prizes by scanning Monopoly tickets you get from buying at your local McDonald’s store. Available in Australia and sponsored by the McDonald’s Corporation there, you can get a ton of rewards—from a simple free McDonald’s burger to even a car, of all things. All you have to do is buy from Macca’s to get tickets and play the mini-games in the app as if you’re shopping.

The Land Wars

If you’re not familiar with it, Monopoly is a board game in which you deal with paper money, land plots, and estates with the goal being the last one standing against bankruptcy. It’s been a classic board game title for over several decades now and has become a pop culture reference with how well-known—and well-hated—it has become. Over the years, several variants of it have popped up, and it’s even made its way onto mobile gaming. Whatever the platform, the rules are mostly the same: you’ll be dealing with money and the ever-unpredictable turn of your luck.

Monopoly at Macca’s still follows the rules of the classic Monopoly game. However, you don’t need to worry about land and houses anymore. The app only requires you to scan the code from your McDonald's Monopoly ticket to earn a chance to play.  All squares on the board have hidden prizes on them so it’s a guarantee that you’ll at least win something worthwhile for one in every five plays. The prizes can range from a free McDonald’s meal to an expensive trip somewhere. To get a ticket, you only need to purchase a food item at McDonald's. 

Easy with the Macs

Monopoly at Macca’s looks like a great way to be rewarded for your loyalty and support to McDonald’s. However, the app doesn’t perform as well as it should. Much of the complaints against it are the tickets and codes not registering, and the glitches that cause your stash of tickets being wiped and lost. It seems you’re better off just buying some Macca’s because you wanted to and not because of the tempting prizes on this app.
