Monodraw is a graphic and design software developed by Helftone Ltd. It is an ASCII editor that enables users to create text-based art and graphics, such as diagrams, flow charts. It can also be used to provide visual representations of data and information during presentations.

Monodraw essentially works like other text editors, such as Brackets or Atom. What makes it stand out is that it is quite user-friendly and does not require any coding to use. It is available as a one-time purchase software for users wanting to continue using it after its free trial period.

How do I use it?

American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII) was a character encoding standard used to communicate on electronic devices, such as PCs, telecommunications, and the like. While it has been succeeded by other modern standards, it is still widely used for various applications today like art and graphic design. Hence, programs like Monodraw were developed to make it easier for artists, web designers, and others to do so.

What makes Monodraw such an appealing solution is its simplistic and user-friendly approach to its design. It comes with 148 font types out-of-the-box that can be expanded further with third-party add-ons. In addition, it also offers various drawing tools like line, rectangle, and diamond shapes. It even has bucket fill or color pencil coloring options that you can use on your creations if you want to.

Lastly, Monodraw uses a CoreText-based text engine to give you precise control and freedom of movement for your text, allowing you to position it on diagrams or mind maps in any way you want. However, despite all of its text-manipulation functions, this tool is not a full-fledged text editor for coding purposes, nor can it be used as a substitute for one. It's meant more for art and graphics creations.

Intuitive and capable ASCII editor

If you're a fan of ASCII text art and you want to give it a try for yourself, Monodraw is a great option to consider. It's intuitive to use, offers plenty of tools to play around with, and you can even add more font styles that you want. What's more, it can be used for creating visual data graphics or mind maps if you want. Highly recommended.
