みんなでウォッチ Sync, from the minnade-watch.com team, is a Google Chrome extension that creates synchronized viewing rooms so remote participants see the same video position together. It keeps playback state aligned across devices and supports live conversation alongside scheduled viewing. The extension targets friends, couples, and online communities who want coordinated watch parties with a social, reactive layer driven by a mascot named Miru.

Can Sync replace discontinued native watch-party features?

Users seeking an alternative to removed built-in watch-party tools find Sync positioned as a community-focused replacement, and the project is developed by the minnade-watch.com team. The extension is built around creating shared sessions on the developer's service where participants join a room link. That model mirrors traditional watch-party workflows and is designed specifically for groups that coordinate viewing times and discussion across distances.

How accurate is Sync's playback synchronization?

The extension emphasises timing accuracy, with the developer describing it as "highly accurate playback synchronization that minimizes lag" between participants. That alignment applies when everyone uses Chrome or other Chromium-based browsers, since the extension runs inside the browser environment. Network latency still influences tightness of sync, but the architecture focuses on transmitting play, pause, and seek commands to keep sessions aligned in near real time.

Does Sync respect user privacy during sessions?

According to the developer, Sync does not record video streams, save content, or collect personal information; it transmits only the playback state needed for synchronization. Chat messages and room links form part of session activity, so participants share those items during a room. The privacy posture is therefore tied to the developer's statement that no content capture or personal-data harvesting occurs.

How does Sync fit into browser-based viewing workflows?

Sync integrates with browser workflows by using simple room creation and invitation via shared URLs and by offering event scheduling for planned sessions. The tool runs inside Chromium-based browsers, so it fits teams or social circles that standardise on Chrome, Edge, or Brave. The mascot Miru adds a playful social cue during viewing, which changes the session tone compared with bare playback-only solutions.

Practical choice for social viewers who prioritise synchronized sessions

Sync is a practical option for friends and online communities that want tightly aligned viewing sessions and scheduled group events. The main trade-off is reliance on participants using Chromium-based browsers and sharing room links so everyone can join the same session. For groups willing to work within that browser constraint, Sync delivers a focused way to coordinate simultaneous viewing and live conversation.
