Once you start the game, you’ll be asked to select a language such as Chinese, English, French, Spanish, and many more. Once you’ve chosen a language, you’ll be asked to pick one character out of the four along with their nationality. Sadly, there are no female characters.

Then, the game will teach you the basic controls and mechanics. Kick power and directions are signified with an arrow. To adjust the former, touch and hold the screen upwards and downwards, and the arrow will become shorter or longer. The shorter the arrow, the weaker your kicks will be and vice versa. You can adjust your kick direction by dragging the arrow to your desired direction. 

The screen will then zoom into the soccer ball. Tap the ball to launch it toward the goal or your teammate. Learning the controls takes a bit of practice and patience, though. Nevertheless, mastering them entails increased chances of scoring goals and winning the game. After finishing the tutorial, you can choose a club, input your player name, and participate in matches.

As Mini Soccer Star: Football Cup’s controls rely on precision, newbies can find it too frustrating to play. However — like any other game — it takes patience to master its controls and mechanics and mastery entails fewer missed shots and more victories under your belt. It has great character customization features, not to mention that you can select your soccer ball’s pattern, too. Unfortunately, you can only play as a male character.
