In India, the game of mindi is known as various names like mindi kot, mendhi coat, mendikot, mindi offline, and dehla pakad. In North India, it is known as dehla pakad.

Mindi is a game of skill and strategy. The aim of the game is to gain points by forming sets and runs. A player has to play cards which are dealt to him/her and also the player has to form sets and runs by using cards which are in his/her hand. The sets have to be formed before the cards of other players and the runs have to be formed after the cards of other players.

The player has to be very careful while forming the sets and runs, because the cards which are in the hand of the player, if they are used for the runs, will be counted against him/her.

There are special cards which are known as jokers. The jokers are used for the purpose of forming sets and runs, and they also have special powers.
