In Mindi, there are four players divided into two teams, with partners sitting opposite each other. The game follows an anticlockwise direction for dealing and playing. The first dealer is chosen by drawing cards from a shuffled pack, and the highest or lowest card determines the dealer.

The game offers different methods for choosing the trump suit, including "Hide hukum" where a card is selected face down to determine the trump suit, and "katte hukum" where the first card played as a trump suit determines the trump for the deal.

The team that captures three or four tens in their tricks wins the deal. If each team has two tens, the winners are determined by the team that won seven or more tricks. Winning by capturing all four tens is known as mendikot, while taking all thirteen tricks is a 52-card mendikot or whitewash.

Mindi - Desi Card Game does not have a formal scoring method. The main aim of the game is to win as often as possible, with a win by mendikot considered better than an ordinary win. The result determines the next dealer, with the losing team's dealer continuing unless they lose a whitewash, in which case the deal passes to the dealer's partner.
